O'Sullivan Cup - 2017
Well done to Rupert Nute (Whitchurch), on his second win in this, the 28th O'Sullivan Cup !
Rupert got off to a good start, with William Meredith-Davies, just back from the University Epee Championships, Sheffield, in hot pursuit. The second round saw Adrian Stoneman edge ahead by just one point, whilst in an exciting third round both Rupert & William gained a further 11 points, giving Rupert the verdict on 31 points. Absent this year was last year's runner-up, Krystof Gibbon, fencing Epee & Foil at the University Championships.
Special prizes awarded to Gareth Law (highest placed Vet.), Miles Waddington (youngest entrant), and newcomer Rachel Hurdley, making a return to fencing after several years away.
Thanks also to Simon Corcoran for his armoury services, and last but not least, to Peter Russell for the use of Cardiff Academy of Fencing.
Format : Poule unique, "The time between bouts was fast and organised" - feedback from one competitor.
