Whitchurch Fencing Club

O'Sullivan Cup - 2022

Well done to Nikolas Antoniou (Cardiff Academy of Fencing), on today's win, his 1st win in this popular competition.

Nikolas, from Cyprus and studying in Cardiff, pulled out an early lead just ahead of former winners Adrian Stoneman and Rupert Nute.

At the end of the 2nd round, Nikolas & Rhys Jackson were neck & neck, at 28 & 27 points respectively, with the trio of Adrian, Rupert & Kel Brundle hot on their heels with 23 & 24 points.

In the closing round Nikolas stretched the gap with his co-competitors, taking the Cup with 35 points, with Rhys and Rupert close behind with 33 and 32 points respectively.

Well done also to Hannah Campbell (Whitchurch) on her first outing in this event.

Thanks again to Simon Corcoran for his armoury services, to Jon Dawkins, Referee, and to newcomer Michelle Golding from 'fencingstuff', with her portable stand of fencing clothing and other accessories, and especially for donating three £5 clothing vouchers as additional prizes.

- and last but not least, to Peter Russell for the use of Cardiff Academy of Fencing.

Format : Poule unique.

"Thanks for another great event and for the organisation; it’s very much appreciated.    - feedback from one competitor..."
