Whitchurch Fencing Club

O'Sullivan Cup - 2021

Well done to Adrian Stoneman (Cardiff), on today's win, his 3rd win in this popular competition.

Taking place in September, at the first calendar opportunity post lockdown, this was a well attended event, with contestants from as far away as Lincoln, and Bath, as well as others closing to home,

A high standard of fencing was evident, with strong performances at various stages from Samuel Godbehere (Malvern Hills), Hugh Kocan (Gwent Sword), and George Boden (Gwent Sword).

At the end of the 2nd round Samuel, Adrian Stoneman (Cardiff), and William Ferguson (OPS Lincoln), were leading each at 25 points . Adrian successfully extended his lead in the closing round to get the verdict, with Wiliam Ferguson second, and Rhys Jackson (Malvern Hills) in third place.

Well done also to Josh Bedford (Whitchurch) on his first competitive outing, and best wishes too to two previous winners, Rupert Nute & Jack Cafaro, both unable to attend due to prior commitments.

Thanks again to Simon Corcoran for his armoury services, and last but not least, to Peter Russell for the use of Cardiff Academy of Fencing.

Format : Poule unique.

"Thanks again for putting on a very fun, friendly and well organised event ! " - feedback from one competitor....

Date for next year - 20th March 2022.
