O’Sullivan Cup – Winning photograph on display !
A photograph of the 2024 O’Sullivan Cup has been selected for display at a photographic exhibition in Birmingham
Last year Amateur Photographer David Hopes from Bridgend approached Whitchurch Fencing Club for permission to photograph at their annual O’Sullivan cup Mixed Epee competition. As Club Secretary Michael Clemitson explained “Fencing is a fast moving sport, so photographing it can be very difficult, and requires a good knowledge of the timings & aperture settings needed to get the best results.
David, a member of his local camera club, and who is particularly interested in Sports Photography, took several photos taken at that event, and later submitted a selection of them to a national photographic competition organised by the Photographic Association of Great Britain.
Over 1000 photos were submitted nationwide, and David’s photograph is one of the 60 finallists, short-listed for display. The selected photographs, including David’s, are currently on display in
St Martin in the Bull Ring Church, in the Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham, and will later go on display at Bedwellty House, Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, 3-30 August.
