Whitchurch Fencing Club

Well done to club members Rupert Nute and Andrea Bertelli, and their team-mate Max Rowe-Haynes, who fences at Celtic Sword, on winning gold in the Welsh National Team Championships 2025 !

They won all their bouts by a significant margin, including against last year’s winners from Cardiff Academy of Fencing.

Team captain Rupert said “Fencing in a team competition is very different from solo events, with strategy playing an important part.  You have to assess the strengths and weaknesses not just of your opponents, but also those of yourself and your team-mates.

We also all have our own individual styles of fencing, and our combination of skills really gave our opponents a tough time, with each of us putting some solid scores.”
